As an ESL instructor I have always taught in a classroom, using pretty normal methods (although I have always been considered a little off the normal teaching track!). I taught mainly in Maui at a local, non-profit school and was fortunate to have students from all over the world. My classroom was multicultural and we learned to communicate and have fun at whatever English level we could manage.

Two years ago I left Maui and decided that I wanted to work at home. My challenge was to find a way to do what I love doing … teach ESL and work at home; as the freedom I experienced in the classroom was definitely a part of my Hawaiian experience, and I did not expect to find this level of freedom on the mainland of the United States"
